The FP3 ranking system was established at the start of the 2004 season. The idea was to expand the National Championship Tournament to more of the quality teams who play Fast Plastic. The FP3 has had a few facelifts over the years but the 2007 FP3 ranking system will remain for the 2008 season.
Here's how it works.
Points for every NCQ will be reliant on two separate items - a predetermined point total for first and second place and the number of teams that enter the NCQ. First place, regardless of the number of teams will receive 60 points, second place 30 points. Each team thereafter will receive a number of points, in reverse order, based on the number of teams that enter the qualifier.
For example, if sixteen teams enter a tournament the tournament champion will receive 60 points, the runner up 30. The third place team will then receive 14 points, fourth place 13 points and so on. The last place team will received 1 point.
Here's a quick example of an 8 team NCQ

DETERMINING ORDER OF FINISH
At the conclusion of the tournament, FP will determine where a team finishes based on how far they advanced and their win/loss record. Should teams have identical records and vie for the same placement, the below tie-breaker system will be used to determine the official order of finish for the tournament.
1. Head to Head
2. Common Opponents
3. Fewest Runs Allowed
4. Strength of Schedule
5. Run Differential
6. Opponent Strength of Schedule
PLAYOFF SEEDING
The above is also used to determine where a team is seeded for the playoff round of the tournament for teams with identical records.
Note: The tournament's official order of finish is reviewed after the event has concluded and therefore may differ than the playoff seeding.
